NHNH is continuing our Gardening and Sustainability Series funded by Monash Community Grants Programme for 2023. These gardening lectures will be delivered by Sustainable Gardening Australia. Each program will host a guest speaker providing information, light refreshments and community chat time.

Thursday, 11 May | 6 pm – 7.30 pm | FREE

Many households dispose of a significant amount of kitchen and garden waste in their home garbage bins. To unpack this issue, we organised a Black Gold Composting Workshop.

The workshop aimed to educate participants on the process of transforming readily available and cost-free raw materials into nutrient-rich compost, often referred to as “black gold.” This compost can then be used to nourish gardens, contributing to a healthier environment.

During the workshop, we covered various discussion topics, including the comparison between Hot and Cold Composting methods, Worm Farming techniques, Bokashi composting, the benefits of keeping Backyard Chooks, and much more.

We extend our gratitude to Sustainable Gardening Australia for their valuable contribution in delivering this informative workshop.

This FREE event is running during Neighbourhood House Week (8 – 14 May).
