Notting Hill Community Laneways

Coming soon… Notting Hill Community Laneways!

The team at Notting Hill Neighbourhood House is planning to transform the pedestrian path between Samada St and Saniky St into a fun, vibrant and eye-catching community art laneway. This will involve painting the fences and curating a gallery of artwork by local neighbours.

We have been inspired by Carnegie Community Laneways (see the photos below) to start this project in our neighbourhood.

With this project, we hope to:

  • Create a special landmark in our neighbourhood
  • Engage the local community in a creative way
  • Give locals a chance to showcase their talents
  • Bring a smile to neighbours walking by
  • Design a creative gateway between our two local playgrounds in Samada St and Finch St.

We plan on kick-starting this project in Term 1 & 2 2023.

If you are interested in contributing artwork or suggesting an art prompt, please fill out the form below and we will be in contact in Feb 2023. We will give you a board to paint on and when you return it to us with your painting we will coat it with clear, matte sealer and hang it up for you.

For any questions, contact Jenny at

This project is being funded by The Monash Council Community Grants Program (Arts and Cultural Projects) and supported by Bunnings Notting Hill.

Can you help us paint our laneway fences?

With the help from students and teachers at Brentwood Secondary College we have made a start on the painting the laneway fences.

We plan on finishing to paint the laneway fences over a series of sessions from 27 Nov to 11 Dec. This is highly dependent on good weather.

If you are able to lend a hand please contact us. We can add you to our fence painting WhatsApp group and let you know when we are planning to go out and paint! If you do not have WhatsApp we can text or email you.
