Rob Hunter joined us on a cold Sunday afternoon to recount the chilling events of February 1977 – his first week as a primary school teacher. Through the course of the afternoon he took us through events that transpired that week, the courage and wit it took to protect himself, his 9 young students, and five bystanders who were being held by a kidnapper.
It was an absolute delight spending the Sunday afternoon with Rob, hearing his story which made for national news at the time. He also shared what he learned from this traumatic event, and how it has affected his life since. It is very much a story of courage, support and healing, and we are so grateful that we got to bear witness to it.
Thank you to everyone who came in and made the event a success.
We had a lovely time at our first Holi Party at NHNH. It was an evening dedicated to colour, laughter, friends and food. Kids had little colouring corners around the house, a face painting session, and a story telling session. The highlight of the evening was the delicious Indian dinner prepared by our volunteers. Thank you all for coming and joining in the revelry! We hope to see you at more of these events.
